Introduction to Digital Photography: Understanding and Using Your Digital Camera

Learn about all your camera’s bells and whistles. In this class we will review functions and menus, control settings and white balance, and learn to load, edit, and organize photos on a computer. Basic photo composition skills will also be discussed. Please bring your camera and manual to each session.

Introduction to Vegetable Gardening: Winter
Andy Currin, avid vegetable gardener and horticulturist, Duke University
Winter is the time to slow down in the garden, evaluate the season and plan for next year. This class will focus on winter season strategies, including sowing of winter cover crops and extending your growing season with cold frames and other techniques. Class includes indoor discussion and outdoor practice in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. Class textbook is included for those beginning this series.

Twelve Ways to Improve Your Landscape
Jeff Evans, landscape architect
With photos of “good” and “bad” gardens, Jeff will discuss common problems in the home landscape, presenting other design choices to consider. Together the class will identify solutions and learn of ways to fix the flaws.
