Growing tomatoes and okra are Southern traditions. This session will discuss how to grow these two staples of the Southern garden in ground, in raised beds and in containers. We will review planting from seed and seedling, pest and disease treatment and watering and fertilizing. We will also provide information on numerous varieties of both heirlooms and hybrids that can be successfully grown in Durham.

You don’t need a big yard or a lot of sun to have gorgeous plants – come learn about gardening in containers! Leanna will cover the basics (soils, containers, watering and light needs) as well as share many inspirational design examples.
