America’s First Forest: Carl Schenck & the Asheville Experiment

A documentary film that tells the story of how Carl Schenck, a German forester, came to America in 1895 to manage the forests at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., where he helped restore the land, established the country’s first forestry school, and helped launch the American conservation movement.

Free entry and parking. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Film begins at 6 p.m. and lasts one hour. There is a question-and-answer panel after the film.  Seating is limited, please RSVP to eclee2@ncsu.edu.
