December 2 – Getting Dirty with Durham County Master Gardeners Radio Show, 2 pm on WCOM FM 103.5: Starting in November, North Carolina poinsettia growers send over 4 million plants to markets along the east coast.  With a wholesale value of over $17 million, NC State University plays a valuable role in helping growers determine which ones will be the hot new plant.  Lise Jenkins interviews Dr. John Dole, professor and head of the Horticultural Science department at NCSU about the poinsettia trails at the JC Raulston Arboretum.  Charles Murphy explains that while raised beds are a popular way to garden in our area they don’t last forever and what you need to do to rehab your old beds.  Our host, Harold Johnson, concludes his visit to the Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market.
