Ask A Master Gardener
The Ask a Master Gardener Program is an opportunity for members of the community to ask questions about gardening and learn more about the NC State Extension Master GardenerSM program. Durham County Master Gardener volunteers are available to provide answers using research-based information about plants and plant problems.
You’ll find Master Gardener volunteers at the following community events ready for your questions:

December 17, 7-8:30 pm: Online Zoom presentation “A Viable Alternative to Conventional Lawns: The Cornell Experience” by Todd Bittner, PhD, and Director of Natural Areas, Cornell Botanic Gardens. December 4, 3-4:00 pm: Online presentation “Cool Swags from the Garden,” with research and nursery technicians Tim Alderton and Sophia McCusker. Garden professionals will lecture on using plant clippings for swags and wreaths for the holiday season and beyond. Cost: Free. North Carolina Botanical Garden
December 12, 12 Noon-1:00 pm: Virtual and in-person Lunchbox Talk: “The Carolina Parokeet (Paroquet) and Relatives: A Look at Some Natural, Un-natural, and Cultural Histories.” John Gerwin, Ornithology Research Curator at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences discusses this extinct NC parakeet early naturalists described in past centuries.
