Have you visited one of the Farmers’ Markets in Durham? This week is Farmers’ Market Week, so why not make a trip? Support local agriculture and add some delicious items to your menu. A list of some Farmers’ Markets can be found on the official Durham website, or check the Growing Small Farms site to search for growers-only farmers’ markets in surrounding counties. At two Durham markets, the Ask a Master Gardener booth operates at certain times each month.
Master Gardener Volunteers are available to answer questions at The Durham Farmers Market on the 3rd Saturday of each month from April-November between 8 am and noon. During June, July and August, we are at the Wednesday market 3:30-6:30 pm
The market is located at 501 Foster Street Durham, NC 27701
(just 2 blocks from the extension office
Master Gardeners are also available at the South Durham Farmers Market on the last Saturday of the month between 8 am -12. South Durham Farmers Market is located in Greenwood Commons Shopping Center, corner of NC 55 and Sedwick Road.
In these photos, Master Gardener Volunteers Jennifer Corser and Maggie Dolbow are ready to provide information and answers to visitors to the South Durham Farmers’ Market. The Ask a Master Gardener booth is stocked with seasonally relevant handouts (check out our Fall Gardening resources this month) and soil test kits. Bring your questions – we are happy to help.
