Tree lovers of all ages are invited to submit their nominations for significant trees in Durham County starting September 1 and ending by the deadline of November 1, 2015. The largest or most significant tree for each tree species and category on private or public property will be announced on Arbor Day, March 18, 2016. The Durham Finest Trees (DFT) Committee would also like to encourage the public’s awareness of trees in their community and to catalog fine examples of magnificent specimens of trees due to their size, setting or historical importance. So Durhamites, look-up at the majesty that surrounds you or take a picture of a tree that inspires you! Help us get the word out by forwarding this to interested local groups or individuals. Questions can be directed to; durhamsfinesttrees@gmail.com. Each tree must have its own nomination form which should be mailed to the attention of the Master Gardener Durham Finest Tree Committee at the NC Extension Service, Durham County Center address: 721 Foster Street, Durham, NC, 27701.
