TREE PRUNING WORKSHOP

Alex Johnson, the City of Durham’s Urban Forestry division Manager will go over the basics of pruning young trees in urban landscapes for future form and structure.
Hands-on demonstrations available for the public.
Bring your tools – we may not have enough to loan out to everyone.
Dress appropriately for working outdoors (sturdy footwear is a must)

Objectives and strategies for pruning
Common tree forms and structure and their implications
Wood properties and response to injury
Pruning cuts, what to do and what not to do
Pruning tools and how to use them
